The town

Paleochora (Old Country in Greek)

a little town of almost 2000 people is one of those places that you always come back to.

There is a little bit of everything there: history, culture, nature, beaches, agriculture and of course welcoming locals. It was first inhabited in 1334, when the Venetians built there the Selino Kastelli or Selino fortress. It was used as a station to transfer goods around the island by boat in the times when you could not reach the South by road. In the 60s the hippies arrived in Crete and Paleochora becoming one of their favourite destinations. They taught the locals to love this place for its calm beauty and its connection to nature and since then it has become essential for our summer getaways.
